FSFA Cup 2021
4th Round
FootySimulator - FSFA Cup 2021 - 4th Round
With the competition already wide open, some of the big teams were left to rue missed opportunities. France became the latest victims of Mexico's excellent home form while Uruguay fell in Austria. 98 ranked Equatorial Guinea stunned Senegal. Even more surprising was the tally of eight games that would go to replays. These included failures by Spain, England, Brazil and Italy to beat much lower ranked opposition at home. But all would survive to play again. 2013 winners Argentina were the biggest name to go through to the last 16 at the first attempt, helped by two goals from Lionel Messi. Marko Arnautovic of Austria and Andriy Yarmolenko matched Messi's tally.

Mixed fortunes for the big teams who found themselves in the position of having to face tricky away replays. Brazil and defending champions Italy progressed with aplomb. England and Spain were not so lucky however, England falling in extra time while Spain went down to a late Aaron Long goal despite two goals from Isco. Also scoring twice was South Korea's Ui-Jo Hwang in a surprisingly one-sided game against the Czechs in Incheon.

Malawi would fall deep in extra time in the second replay of their marathon contest against South Africa. Meanwhile Russia would be condemned to a second replay for the second consecutive round.
